April 5, 2024
Sashay Sands is Sherwin William’s Chosen Paint Color for April 2024. It is a fashionable neutral that definitely has a strong warm, pink undertone. Think Carrie Bradshaw meets Joanna Gaines in a Paris flat to remodel her closet. Now there is a conversation I want to be part of! It might be a bit intimidating to some, or feel “done” to others. We show you how to make it feel fresh again, without being too much pink. Barbie can sit this one out.
Sashay Sands is perfect for April 2024. Here is why:
The tone elevates the mood and adds a note of luxury to any space. It pairs well with a wide range of colors, making it a great option for both contemporary and traditional styles. The subtle rosy undertones of Sashay Sand can complement the natural warmth and texture of the wood furniture, creating a cozy and harmonious atmosphere.
Sashay, Not Trash-ay
Green décor elements add a refreshing touch to this bedroom design and black accents give a modern flair to a color that could go too feminine quickly. It is a gorgeous color and incredibly welcomed not only because it is officially spring but after all the gray, it’s time to liven the house up. However, after seeing all the dream houses of 2023, we are incredibly ready for some luxury and subtly. Can I get a “Hi, Samantha. Hi Charlotte. Hi, Carolina. ” and skip over Barbie? (Because when I say liven up a house, I do NOT mean with Disco balls or flash trash – don’t get too sassy. The word is Sashay, not Trash-ay. )
April 2024 or November 1989? Sashay Sand inspired both for us….
When we originally read the announcement saying what the April color was to be, we internally groaned. We have seen mauve before. Over four decades and we have seen EVERYTHING before. Then, for an hour I walked around saying “my colors are blush and bashful” with a southern accent. (C’mon- I kn0w there was twang in your head when you read those words. You are only lying to yourself if you deny it.)
And then, our design voices kicked in. (Sorry for the Snark, SW!) and we started batting ideas around. Swivel desk chairs and waste can basketball style.
Here are a few of the ways we thought about using the Sashay Sands now (April 2024!)….
…..and moving away from the late eighties. (although that might be on the watch list this weekend!)
How would it look with black windows ? Ohhhh very Manhattan loft. How about as a smooth stucco finish? Yes, with a lot of cream tossed in. Hello, SoCal.
Hmmmm.. What if we did it on a fireplace, a front door or on trim work? We have done THAT before. Shut the Front Door though because that turned out really pretty.
Laura Ashely Chintz be damned, We are going Full Monty…
Who knew you had to be Daring to use taupe?
” WHAT IF WE DID AN ENTIRE KITCHEN OUT OF SASHAY SAND???” and I heard everyone take a deep breath…. Or, maybe that was just the squirrels in my head because sometimes they get very tired. exhausted, really. Realistically, though, we knew very few people care if you have a kitchen with pink/taupe cabinets. It is only visible from the inside and then, of course, the chatter from those that have seen that gorgeous. kitchen. They would inspire some wow factor though.
But, wait! There is more!
And then, someone said it. I am not sure who because as it often happens at times of great collaborations, you become the idea and everything becomes a mix of emotions and thoughts just blending and blurring….
It is APRIL 2024 and we are FEARLESS!
WHAT IF WE PAINTED THE EXTERIOR OF THE NEW BUILD …….SASHAY SAND???
And the room, and time I think, stood still and quiet. But, really, it would take serious guts to do it right? Guts we have.
So, Take a look at this:
Now, please note. There are some instances Sashay Sand can go very, Very, VERY wrong. As much as we are singing the praises of the color for April 2024, Here are a few bad choices.
Coordinating Colors Can Really Tie the Room Together
Or was that a rug? Anyway, since Sashay Sands is Sherwin William’s Chosen Paint Color for April 2024, we wanted to offer some colors that you can use to give dimension to trim and accent areas. . Here are a few suggestions that we love:
Hopefully we helped you envision this fun color in your space. Don’t be afraid to commit. It is paint. Start small. a powder room or a door. A shelf or a side table. No one said you have to do the exterior of your home. But, now you know you can. 🙂
Happy Spring!
